Itinerary
Upon your arrival at the Mohamed V Airport in Casablanca, you will meet your driver, and drive to visit the Mosque Hassan II, the third largest mosque in the world. Then continuing drive to Rabat where you will spend your first night.
If your flight land at Rabat Airport, your driver will meet you there and transfer you to the hotel in Rabat. And the next day, you will start your tour from Rabat.
After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to explore the town of Rabat. The city tour of Rabat including : the Oudaya Kasbah overlooking the Atlantic, the Mohamed V mausoleum, the Hassan tower. After you will continuing drive through the Rif Mountains, enjoy the views of the beautiful Mountains till you get chefchaouen.
Load up your cameras! Its blue-washed houses, narrow cobbled streets, and mountainous backdrop create a tranquil and photographic setting! Exploring Chefchaouen “The blue city of Morocco”. Situated at the footstep of 2 higher mountains, Chefchaouen is a beautiful unique city, with its white washed walls and blue doors and windows. Unlike many parts of Morocco, Chefchaouen was occupied by Spain; therefore there is much influence from the Spanish civilisation and Moorish architecture. Over night at your Hotel in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start travelling to Fes via the Roman site of Volubilis, and Meknes.
After a couple of hours drive, you will get to Volubilis, the well preserved Roman empire dating to 225 BC, where you will see the most beautiful Mosaics in Morocco dating back to 3rd century BC. Here you will have a guided tour of the site and learn a lot about the Roman Empire. After that we travel to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco. In Meknes we see the fascinating gate Bab Mansour built by the sultan My Ismail; the granary and the Sahrij Souani, used for irrigation and plantation. In the afternoon we continue to Fes where you will spend the night.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring Fes the “the Sprititual City of Morocco”. You will spend the whole morning exploring the Medina and its alleys; visiting most of the sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Karaouine Mosque and University (the oldest in the world), the Medrasa Bouanania, the Tanneries and the Najjarine fountain. After lunch, we will drive you outside the Median to see the Royal Palace gate, walk through the Jewish quarter “the Mellah”, and then visit the pottery cooperative. In the afternoon, we will drive you to one of the fortresses to experience an amazing panoramic view of the whole Medina of Fes.
After breakfast you will start travelling to Merzouga via Ifran and Midlet. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, where you may well sight Barbarian apes. Then we continuing travel through the Tizi N’ Talghamt Pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock. Continue along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way. Then drive through welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud, and then Rissani, before you arrive to Merzouga . You will be welcomed by a glass of mint tea before you check in to your riad. Overnight at your Riad in Merzouga.
After breakfast in your riad you will start an explorative journey of the area. You will be visiting the Gnawa people in their village Khamlia , where you will learn about the Gnawa music and their lifestyle. Afterwards, you will visit the old city of Rissani – the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Rissani is surrounded by 360 ksar (a fortified village with many towers) and has a big souk (an open market), held three times a week. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuctou in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. Afternon drive back to the village of Merzouga, and After a rest of 30 minutes, you ride Camels directly to the midle of the dunes where you will enjoy the night with dinner and entertainement under the Nomad tent ( Camps ) . For your convenience, our camp is equipped with western bathrooms.
After an unforgettable quiet night among the sand dunes of erg chebbi and in nomad’s land, you will admire the sunrise upon the dunes, then return back with camels to the hotel where you have breakfast and shower, then leave for Rissani , Tinghir, and Todra gorges – the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco, where you will take a walk to exploring this magnificent and narrow gorges where vertiginous cliffs of pink ochre frame a crystal clear and fresh river .
After lunch in the heart of the gorge, you will continue to the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Overnight at your hotel in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, you will drive to Marrakech via Valley des Roses, Atlas Studio and Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, visit of this old berber village, where many movies filmed such as; Obelix, Gladiator and others. It is now a UNESCO heritage site, which today still houses many Berber families . After lunch, you will continue on the road to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas Mountains through Tizi N’Tichka pass, stopping at places with magnificent panoramic views to take picture. Dinner and overnight will be at your Riad in Marrakech.
Visit of historical Marrakech include: The Saadian tombs, Bahia Palace, The Koutoubia Minaret, and the Ben Youssef Coranic School. Afternon short drive to the new city to visit the Majorelle Gardens named after the famous French painter, who constructed here his art deco villa and started the botanical gardens, in 1980 it became the residence of Yves Saint Laurent. In the Evening, visit the famous Djemaa El Fna square with its surrounding souks and handicraft quarters.
Following breakfast, you will depart to Essaouira. Along the way and exactly 20 Km before Essaouira and since this is the land of the “Argan culture”, you will see herds of goats climbing the Argan trees looking for better food they can’t find on the ground. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the women’s co-operative of Argan oil where they extract the oil that is famous for its culinary, cosmetic and medical properties. Afternoon can be devoted to explore the medina, On that fortifications of the old town you’ll be able to trace Portuguese, French and Berber architecture. Its whitewashed houses, cool breezes, relaxed atmosphere along with its friendly cafes, numerous craftsmen and the delicious fresh fish make this a charming place to stay another night.
Today you will enjoy travelling to El jadida via the coast, stopping by Asafi to see its exhibits local ceramic wares & the potters , and El Oualidia for lunch. then arrive in El jadid in time for some exploration of this town. Dinner at the hotel in El jadida, where you will spend your final night.
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight out.
