Itinerary
Meet your driver in tanger port, and drive through the Rif Mountains, enjoy the views of the beautiful Mountains till you get chefchaouen. Load up your cameras! Its blue-washed houses, narrow cobbled streets, and mountainous backdrop create a tranquil and photographic setting. Free afternoon, to start exploring Chefchaouen “The blue city of Morocco”. Situated at the footstep of 2 higher mountains, Chefchaouen is a beautiful unique city, with its white washed walls and blue doors and windows. Unlike many parts of Morocco, Chefchaouen was occupied by Spain; therefore there is much influence from the Spanish civilisation and Moorish architecture. Over night at your Hotel in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start travelling to Fes via Ouazzan and the Roman site of Volubilis. After a couple of hours drive, you will get to Volubilis, the well preserved Roman empire dating to 225 BC, where you will see the most beautiful Mosaics in Morocco dating back to 3rd century BC. Here you will have a guided tour of the site and learn a lot about the Roman Empire. After that we travel to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco. In Meknes we see the fascinating gate Bab Mansour built by the sultan My Ismail; the granary and the Sahrij Souani, used for irrigation and plantation. In the afternoon we continue to Fes where you will spend the night.
After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring Fes the “the Sprititual City of Morocco”. You will spend the whole morning exploring the Medina and its alleys; visiting most of the sites with cultural and historical interest – including the famous Al Karaouine Mosque and University (the oldest in the world), the Medrasa Bouanania, the Tanneries and the Najjarine fountain. After lunch, we will drive you outside the Median to see the Royal Palace gate, walk through the Jewish quarter “the Mellah”, and then visit the pottery cooperative. In the afternoon, we will drive you to one of the fortresses to experience an amazing panoramic view of the whole Medina of Fes.
Departure to Merzouga passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the berber village of Immouzer Kandar, Ifrane and Azrou where you will have the opportunity to see the largest forest of cedar trees in the region that is inhabited by monkeys. Free time for optional lunch break and a moment of relaxation in Midelt.Ahead, the oasis region of Erfoud welcomes you. Continuing to the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi, also known as the Dunes of Merzouga. Dinner and over night in Merzouga.
After breakfast, you will start an amazing trip around the dunes while passing by Merzouga, the wandering deposit, the village of Khamliya (village of the Gnaoua), mines of Mifiss, the plates desert meeting the Berber nomads of the desert, oasis Tissardemine, and return to the hotel around 4 p.m, for camel trekking attending the sunset and spend the night in Berber tents in the middle of the dunes. Dinner and over night in a Bivouac (camp).
Early morning wake up for camel riding and outstanding sunrise. Arriving to the hotel for refreshing and breakfast, depart to Dades Gorges throught, Rissani and number of Berber villages. Visit Todra Gorges with its fabulous canyons, and free time to walk around the “Gorges”, enjoy the river and the fabulous views. Afternoon continue to Dades Valley. Overnight in the hotel in Boumanle Dades.
Morning devote to walk and and explore the Valley of Boumanle Dades, one of Morocco’s beautiful oases that offers weary travellers a chance to rest their weary feet and enjoy the abundance of nature! The Dades area is filled with lush valley oasis towns, set against the immense blue Moroccan sky. This area is almost surreal in its ancient charm. Be ready to take breaks in your journey to step out of the car, and walk along the riverbed during the morning or in the late afternoon to fully appreciate the ruined Kasbahs and vast fields of date palms. Many of the Dades kasbahs are in ruin, which lends to the mysterious atmosphere. However, there are a few that remain in perfect condition where Berber families continue to live along the fertile bed of the river. Afternoon, you will head to Ouarzazate through Kelaat Magouna known by Roses, and skoura with its palm grove paths and the ancient kasbahs in the area! Dinner and night in Ouarzazate.
After breakfast, you will drive to Marrakech via the Film Studios and Ait Ben Haddou, visit of this old berber village, where many movies filmed such as; Obelix, Gladiator and others. After lunch, you will continue on the road to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas Mountains through Tizi N’Tichka pass, stopping at places with magnificent panoramic views to take picture.
